Our Purpose & Values
The six purposes that define why we exist, and the ten values that shape how we worship, love, serve, and live together as a church.
Why we exist
“To glorify God as a holy, Bible-centred, worshipping, witnessing, serving and fruitful body of believers in Christ Jesus.”
i.
Worship
We involve every believer in worshipping and glorifying God: in our Sunday services and gatherings, through prayer, praise, song, giving, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, the preaching of the Word, and serving one another.
#WORSHIP
ii.
Prayer
We encourage every believer into an effective life of prayer, both personal and corporate.
#PRAYER
iii.
Evangelism
We encourage every believer to witness to their faith in Christ, so everyone has opportunity to hear the Gospel — fulfilling the Great Commission (Mark 16:15–18).
#WITNESS
iv.
Teaching & Training
We provide teaching and training that leads to a mature understanding and application of God’s Word, and to the growth of each believer’s gifts and ministries.
#TEACH
v.
Missions
We pray for and support missionary work, send workers, and seek to plant new churches in other places.
#MISSIONS
vi.
Service & Social Concern
We encourage every believer to use their gifts to serve others — caring for the poor, sick, elderly, and vulnerable, and helping one another grow spiritually and in practical need.
#SERVE
that define
what we do
These aren’t aspirations on a page or a mission statement we recite. They are the daily practice of a community trying, by God’s grace, to be faithful to Christ in this corner of Wangsa Maju — in our worship, our friendships, our welcome to strangers, and our service to those in need.
Acceptable Worship
Jesus said that God seeks those who worship in spirit and in truth — as individuals, and when we come together as a congregation. Acceptable worship is fired by gratitude and controlled by reverence and awe.
Love for One Another
A restored relationship with God expresses itself in love and grace to one another, who are brothers and sisters in His family. Sacrificial love for one another is evidence that we are disciples of Jesus.
Love for Strangers
As we have received God’s mercy, we demonstrate love and compassion, and welcome those who are strangers to God and the Gospel by our hospitality.
Love for the Less Fortunate
The underprivileged, vulnerable, marginalised, and needy are of great concern to God. Jesus Himself made time for the social rejects of the day. We too are called to do the same.
A Sharing Lifestyle
Contentment and joyful sharing are the twin marks of a disciple of Jesus. As God’s new community, we celebrate God’s generosity by sharing and giving.
Missional Mindset
Being missional is to remember that we are a ‘sent’ people — to be in the world but not of the world. Every day is an opportunity to shine as light in a dark world. We share the Gospel where we are placed, as well as in fields abroad.
Christian Family Life
Marriage is held in honour and family life is valued. Parents take primary responsibility for discipling their own children.
Shared Leadership
Pastoral responsibility is always teamwork. It starts, continues, and finishes with humble service that honours Jesus, our Servant King.
Sound Teaching
The authority of God’s Word is the Church’s true foundation. The teaching of the whole counsel of Scripture is necessary for growth in maturity and godliness.
Shame & Suffering
When we faithfully represent God’s new society, we must expect to meet abuse and persecution. But the rich grace of God in Christ remains our hope and source of strength.
Values lived in community
Values like these are not learned on a page — they’re caught in the daily life of a church. Come and see what they look like in practice. Join us for a Sunday, sit in on a discipleship group, or simply meet us for coffee.
